Abstract

This case study is a story of history of ethnic violence in Kenya centered around land and its dispossession through manipulated and violently forced Anglo Massai Treaty. Besides, It also highlights various phases of disenfranchisement and dispossession of land of these communities. The case study shows 5 decades of the intergenerational struggles of Massai and Lemek community to stake claims over the dispossed land through community awareness of their rights and critical control points of various agencies of the State. It is a story of hope and shows how communities resist and stake claims of their land and guard their interests using technology and other collective tools.
